Project proposal 

 

For joint development project of running the organic farming training program for the outschool youth and the improvement of its training center facilities at "TAMAN TANI LESTARI SESAWI – LPPS FLORES” (The Sustainable and Organic Farm Center of Sesawi - LPPS FLORES)

IN GOLEWA, NGADA, FLORES, NTT, INDONESIA 

 

Aims of Project:

 

1.To empower and to prepare young farmers in Flores who commit themselves to organic and sustainable agriculture activities with a series of basic training skill program in various subsystem of organic farming activities, such as: (a) running the animal husbandry (especially piggery), (b) running the chicken poultry, (c) running the fishpond activities, (d) running the organic vegetables, rice and mais, (e) processing and preparing good quality of food (for breeding the pigs, chickens and catfish), (f) processing and producing the organic fertilizer and natural pesticide, and last but not least (g) producing the instant healthy drink made of ginger plant from our garden. In short all of this will support the running cost of the training skill program in the future.

 

2.To provide the cost of transportation for this young people for their advance training in The Learning Farm of Karang Widya Foundation, Cianjur, West Jawa and the Permakultur in Bali and their return to Flores and to support them after the completion of their training, giving funds for starting their organic farming activities in their villages.

 

3.To improve or to build newly some main infra-structures to support this Training Centre such as, (a) build a new two-store building for the accomodation of 10 young farmers during their training, (b) to improve and to extend the piggery banks and the poultry, (c) to install a newly water system and to build the fishpond, (e) to buy some machines (handtractor and all its equipments, the machine for cutting the local materials for processing food for the animal, machine for producing pelet food, machine for cutting the grass, water pumps, drying machine for pelet food, machine for the organic fertilizer, (f) to build a new building for producing the instant ginger drink called SARI JAHE SESAWI TAKATUNGA and to produce the ginger drink, (g) to provide cost for further training of the operators of these machines.

 

4.To rent a two hectares of land for the period of 10 years or if it is possible to buy a piece of land nearby to Taman Tani Lestari Sesawi – LPPS FLORES in order to provide a place for the practice of the training participants. The land will be used for running the organic vegetables, rice, mais and fruits, as well as to plant ginger and local materials for producing organic food, pesticide, etc.
