Kelompok Peduli Penyandang Cacat – "Kita Juga” (KPPC-KJ)

 

 

KPPC-KJ is a Disabled People's Organisation (DPO) established in 2007 by Manggarai people with a disability and a Dutch physiotherapist to empower the marginalized people with disabilities (PWD) in West Manggarai, Flores and improve access to services

 

Goal: To improve the lives of people with disabilities in West Manggarai, Flores, NTT – Indonesia

 

Vision: Empowerment and equal opportunities for people with disabilities in order to stimulate independence

 

Mission

KPPC-KJ's mission is to:

-Stimulate independence of people with disabilities

-Create a public awareness on the rights of people with disabilities

-Increase positive attitudes of family- and community members towards people with disabilities living amongst them

-Improve therapy services for people with disabilities

-Provide information about existing services (such as therapy, surgery and education) for people with disabilities 

 

 

Activities

KPPC-KJ's program works to:

-Provide information and motivation to PWD in West Manggarai villages about disability and the schedule of visiting surgeons to St Damian Cancar

-Provide essential services such as physiotherapy and aids through home visits (currently in 5 villages in Lembor District)

-Increase awareness in the West Manggarai community of the rights of PWD through theatre, magazines, radio media and community socialization

-Promote disability rights at all levels of government in areas of economy, politics, education and culture, and empower PWDs in these areas
