Burung Manyar Foundation

The Dutch Burung Manyar Foundation (the Weaverbird) provides care services and information to kidney patients in all of Indonesia.

The main goal of the foundation is to provide anti-rejection medicines to patients with a donor kidney.

These types of medicines are very expensive in Indonesia, and are not covered by insurance like they are in the Netherlands.

Burung Manyar is not directly involved in any projects on Flores, but does have ties.

Caroline Due is a nursing student from Bajawa, Flores. She is enrolled in the Nursing Program in the Sekolah Tinggi H.M. Thamrin, Jakarta, (division Perawatan),

which is the H.M. Thamrin College in Jakarta. Caroline was unable to fund the last semesters of her study on her own.

Upon request of a priest of the order of Societas Verbi Divini in Flores, the Burung Manyar Foundation acts as a mediator
in attempts to find funding for part of Caroline Due's study program (S1).  Burung Manyar, in collaboration with the Karunia Foundation,

helped Caroline Due find sponsors successfully.

After finishing her study, Caroline is planning to work in Bajawa, where there is an extreme shortage of medical personnel. Investing in Caroline's study also means
investing structurally in the improvement of medical care in Bajawa. September 2013, Caroline will end her predominantly scientific study at the College with a final internship at a clinic in Kaliurang/Yogyakarta. She will then be a first degree nurse. She is still required to follow another one and a half years of schooling in a practice trajectory (NERS) in the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Binawan in Jakarta, before she may receive a responsible position
in a medical care organisation.

Caroline Due needs another Euro 1.200,- to finance the final stage of her study. The Burung Manyar Foundation has accepted the task to find sponsors to cover this expense.

Will you help us to finance the last stage of Caroline's study and in doing so, help us to improve medical care in the region Bajawa?
Send us your contribution of Euro 10,- or more, stating NERS Caroline.
